Prison Heaven

Off late the mostly heard news in the media is all about the "Prisons". Prisons were developed with an idea of creating a situation for the convicts to realize their guilt and change their way of living. But these intentions have been living only on papers and till date no single prison seems to have achieved this.

The prisons have turned into a very highly secured fortress For may terrorists & anti social elements to plan their actions against the humanity & law. All that we hear about these prisons are absolutely shocking terrorizing. In today’s world there’s nothing that you can’t get inside a prison. Some things which are difficult to obtain outside the prisons are very easily available inside the prisons. Money serves as one key for all the doors within the prison. In most prisons, the prison guards & associated officials seem to be maintaining a rate card for each & everything. For example the following is a sample out of the Vellore Central Prison:
• One minute call charge on a mobile phone: Rs. 20/-
• To have your phone while in prison: Rs 200/- per day
• To recharge your phone: Rs 3050/-
This is just a sample of what’s going on in our prisons and there are more to it. There’s just nothing in world that you can’t get inside a prison these days.
It has to be noted that many bomb blasts that happened in major cities across India are linked to many people who are currently in the prisons. India has been challenging the world nations in terms of economy & intellect whereas the people involved in the governance seem to have the least interest the most sensitive issues like national security. Instead of writing stories & screen plays for the movies, if the Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister spends time on his official work and take some stringent action; it will help save lives of thousands. Will he really come forward to do this? Until the people involved in the governance understand their responsibilities the prisons will always be heavens for the anti social elements.

Come Let's Destroy Terrorism !!!

Within the last 48 hours Bengaluru (Bangalore) or Karnataka & Ahmadabad of Gujarat has been rocked by 8 & 16 serial blasts. What exactly are the extremists trying to prove here? Do they think that waging a war against unarmed civilians is a great act of courage? People who think that this is an act of courage should be ashamed of themselves.

In the name of crusades, the extremists have been killing people left right & center all over the world. The government has condemned these attacks; however it'd be more appreciated if they don't just stop with condemning the attacks and also do something more effective to control these extremist groups. After all don’t we all deserve an effectively working government? Does the government think that granting a few hundred thousand bucks as compensation is going to change anything at all? It’s really pathetic that our politicians are more eager to announce such compensations immediately. The news from a news reader in a TV channel about this blast will immediately be followed by the condemning of attacks and the compensation. Disgusting politicians!!! The families that lost their loved ones deserve a better note of condolence and not an announcement about the compensation. On first hand, why should the government go in the path of compensating people instead of putting an end to such terrorist activities?
The fact that the government is more interested in providing compensation but isn’t so interested in stopping these kinds of acts is really a painful thing for all of us. For example a few days ago the head of Tamil Nadu police made a press release in which he has stated that no LTTE or naxals are there in the state. But immediately a few days later some terrorists belonging to LTTE and some naxals were arrested in the state. This shows how poorly the government is dealing with the terrorism related affairs.
Some time ago the US has offered to help India in controlling the extremist groups. I strongly feel that we’ve to capitalize on the advancements they’ve made in intelligence gathering and technology and it will be definitely helpful in controlling the extremist groups.
In recent days a real stupid way of campaign has been started off in India by some really stupid political groups. The campaign says that a stronger relation between India & the US is against Muslims. It is known to everyone that this campaign started off as an effort to make the government stay away from the signing the nuclear pact between India & US. If we agree to these kinds of campaigns then in the near future some group of people would start saying that the Taliban are Muslims; so any action against them is going to be an action against Muslims. The people of India should understand that these things aren’t any good and all the world countries should join their hands together against terrorism.
If a person is proven to be a terrorist after a conscious investigation then without any further thinking the person should be subject to a capital punishment. And this one shouldn’t be the one like the Afsalguru’s case wherein people are hesitant to hang him just because he’s a Muslim. This should be a starting point to put an end to all those ugly people who in the name of crusades are practicing extremism.

Congress Lives !!!

Admidst a huge drama and horse trading Congress has managed to survive and now it has become certain that they'll rule the whole 5 years (ending by mid 2009). A lot of thanks should go to Mulayam Singh Yadav and his party MPs who supported congress. Of course, the support has certainly costed a lot to the Congress. The only reason why Mulayam & his fellow members have supported Congress is just to ensure that he can safe guard himself from the clutches of Mayawati.

There were real scary talks that a third front is being formed wherein the CPI(M), Mayawati & TDP were getting together and guess what's that they had in mind! Make Mayawati the PM of India if Congress fell. OH MY GOD!!!!! What's happening to India? Oh... never mind this question I keep asking this question to myself all day long and still not able to find answer. In a way I'm happy that Congress managed to survive this one; because I think that a great nation like India definitely deserves someone better than Mayawati.

Now coming to my home state affairs... (I can't talk about anything without mixing my home state's politics :-D)

What is that the supremo of DMK going to gain / loose from this. The ultimate gain is that his daughter (Poet?!? :-D) Kanimozhi is going to become a central minister and remain as one for about a year or so. However its not very sure of whether or not he'll be successful in expelling the PMK & Co from the Union Progressive Alliance (UPA). Since Congress had won on a minor difference expelling PMK means that they'll loose 6 MPs who are in support of them and that's not goint to do any good for Congress now. So this could still make Karunanidhi sad.

One thing that Congress has to keep in mind is that BJP is growing stronger and stronger day by day and they've won a considerable number of elections in the last few months and this is DEFINITELY NOT GOOD for Congress. So its high time for Congress to clear up the mess that they've made so far. However its kind of difficult because they've done a lot of damaage and in my opinion they are not going to be able to turn this one over easily.

Another episode in the game of family politics

For quite a while now, numerous confusions & controversial issues have been doing rounds in the DMK family. To add up to the existing confusions, the DMK supremo & the Tamil Nadu’s CM Karunanidhi have announced that his daughter Kanimozhi is going to be nominated for the Rajya Sabha member post. Though this was expected as soon as Dayanidhi Maran was fired out of office, this has triggered a newer controversy now.

Does he (Karunanidhi) thinks that he’s the sole person responsible to run the country and can make anybody into anything? He made his son a minister, his grandson as another minister. Now he’s trying to bring his daughter into the post of his grandson. Looks like some day or other he’s going to make his pet dog a prime minister of India and we still have to salute that PM. I definitely believe that there are more seniors available in the party when compared to his daughter Kanimozhi. That being the case, why didn’t he choose someone else from his own party? Is DMK deprived of well experienced politicians? I wouldn’t buy that point for sure. This whole thing is now qualified to be called as a massacre of the democracy. People like Hitler & Mussolini fought with people face to face in the war front and killed a lot of people. Everyone who went for a fight knew very well what probably might happen. Whereas in our case, people like Karunanidhi are simply working from the roots like deadly parasites and they think that the general public is their host. The make tones of money out of us; enjoy all the benefits as a legislator and will die and someday will be cremated with ornamental honor some day. Before he passes away, he’s clearly trying to make sure that his kids are educated well about how to make money in the disguise of politics.

These are those guys who promised without shy that “You vote us to power & We’ll give you a color TV…”; When people were dying out there without a single meal. If at all they have some respect for the people & the designations they hold, we can expect some action of justice from them. But these are not of those kinds and so we can’t expect anything good to happen out of these people.

Would we ever get a good leader?
